BREN PRICE

Taos, New Mexico, USA

Artist Statement/Bio

My art career has taken me around the world as teacher and student, and early on, I worked at an ad agency in Chicago. My work is part of public and private collections in the US as well as abroad.

Drawing in Morocco

My book, Inside the Wind, is about change, inspired by the ever present wind on the Llano Estacado where I was born and spent the whole of my childhood with freedom to roam in the physical as well as in the spiritual sense. I started working in the cotton fields at age six where my father pointed out the beauty of sunlight streaming through the cotton leaves – quite possibly the reason I became an artist.

Photo of Bren Price on White Horse I have lived in Taos since 1983 and enjoy the big sky country of New Mexico.  I have been painting since I can remember and each one is like the first. I continue to hone my craft and learn new things every day. I like to go to exotic places and be inspired by the difference. I paint in many styles and mediums but for the most part my work is done in watercolor and is expressionistic in nature. Sometimes my work is straightforward in its meaning and other times it is like a riddle unfolded for the viewer and for me.
